Munster Technological University, Kerry - MTU is the Designated National Centre for Agricultural Engineering - MTU past graduates placed in all the top AgriTech companies in Ireland.

Over recent years, Munster Technological University, Kerry has developed an E-Learning Development Support Unit (EDSU) which has successfully developed blended learning programmes for delivery in support of calls such as Springboard in addition to standard programme delivery. The agile development & delivery process which is utilised within EDSU supports the development & delivery of online/blended learning programmes by the Centre.

MTU hosts the Intelligent Mechatronics and RFID (IMaR) Technology Gateway (one of only twelve Technology Gateway Research Centres funded by Enterprise Ireland). IMaR currently has a complement of 26 researchers. Munster Technological University, Kerry/IMaR has established AgriTech research competencies which are recognised nationally and internationally.

MTU supports a thriving research community of over 150 researchers including academic staff, research professionals and postgraduate students. MTU houses two large research centres, Shannon Applied Biotechnology Centre (Shannon ABC) and the Intelligent Mechatronics and RFID (IMaR), funded under the Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway’s Programme.

UNESCO

MTU has a UNESCO Chair research center. This UNESCO Chair at Munster Technological University, Kerry is the first such UNESCO Chair in the world in Inclusive Physical Education, Sport, Fitness and Recreation. Over the past 3 years, MTU researchers secured over €5m in highly competitive national and EU research funding awards, published over 120 research papers, and completed over 90 market-needs research projects with external companies. MTU strives to empower its students to achieve their full potential.

Kerry County Council

Kerry County Council (Comhairle Contae Chiarraí) is the local government body responsible for the provision and administration of a wide range of services in the county of Kerry in the southwest of Ireland. The council provides services and facilities ranging from housing, planning, economic development, business supports, environmental protection, roads and infrastructure, tourism and arts promotion, community facilities, libraries, fire services, and much more.
